Journal #32

1. Describe a memorable experience.

My memorable learning experience was when I learned how to make the almost "perfect" video. It was hard for me because even though I had done media in middle school, I had to come into high school and make it better than I have ever done. Not only that, but I had to learn a new editing program called, Final Cut Pro. I had to edit and film to the best quality and make everything into excellent work. There had to be good sound, lighting, and still shots; meaning the camera is not shakey. I always had to make sure the editing was clean, and that there were no jump cuts.

2. What is your vision for the ideal school?

My vision for the ideal school is a school where there is good education and the school would be very safe. The ideal school would have many different clubs and programs for students based on different careers. This school would always serve healthy foods for good diets. It would teach the students everything about the real world; to help them survive on their own. Sports would also be part of the programs because a professional sports player is also a career. These things would be an addition to what we already have currently.

3. What do you think you need to learn and how?

I think that I need to learn more about managing money and about taxes because when I graduate, that would be part of my life. I also need to learn about the different kinds of jobs and life skills; also, communication skills. I would learn these things by asking questions and practicing these activities.

Journal #31: My Passion

My passion is seeking new things everyday and to just make new friends as I continue my journey through life. My passion is expressing myself in positive ways and just talking to others about many things. I also like to listen to music everyday and I like to every active and exercise everyday, that's why i play sports. But I only play soccer and run track.  My experiences with passion are when I do all these things, it makes me feel better as a person and it makes my insides "smile." I have been making new friends a lot and being able to introduce myself without being shy is what keeps me going. Being happy keeps me going throughout the day and making new friends makes me know that I will always have someone there for me. I would like this to keep going throughout the rest of my life because I really don't want to be the kind of person that has a daily routine and does the same things every single day. I would like to stretch my knowledge, skills, experiences, and impact with or through this passion by growing and becoming more and more positive everyday. Just grow more skills to become more friendly and gain more skills to have the abilities to do these things.

This I Believe Essay: Draft

Life a Legend
By: Jisel Liboy

There are many people amongst this world that feel that their lives are not as good. They hate the things that they are going through and the routine of their days. Honestly, there is not one person that does not deserve their life. Even though they are going through tough times and are making bad desicions, I believe that they should give themselves another chance. At one point in life, everyone feels useless and they feel that they shouldn't be living. In other words, they hate their lives and they hate themselves. But, life is what you make of it. If you make things interesting, you can live a happy life and make it a legend for yourself. Some would say, "Life a legend?" And they would just question it. But it's not perfect, but you can make life enjoyable and a memory that will be entertaining. I would know from experience.

The truth is, I don't really have a perfect life. But even though I go through tough times with my family and my friends, I always keep my positiveness. And my family, they aren't such angels either. We have been through so many problems, but we still try and keep going on. My family and I faced a lot of difficulties. "Don't let little things get in the way," is what my dad would always say. There was lots of experiences that we have been through. Staying positive is my number one perrogative.

One day, I had come home from soccer practice, and my mom and dad were arguing. It's very hard to listen to my parents argue because us kids can't handle them not being happy. My parents, they argue about little things, like when my brother doesn't listen, or when my sister doesn't do what she is supposed to do, or when I give attitude to my parents when they are only trying to help. My sister, my brother, and I, we usually sit there and just listen to my parents argue about us. And it makes us feel hurt because we don't know how to stop their arguing and because we know that we were the cause to this disagreement. We just keep continuing, because our parents don't let anything get in the way of their relationship; especially us kids.

There was this other time, my parents and I, we had a talk about life. They were giving me tips on how to make myself happy. First, was my mom. Everytime we talk about life or growing up, she would always tell me, "You know, Jisel, when you're older, I hope that you live to the best of your ability. Don't ever let people tell you what to do, and always do what makes you happy." My mom is very important to me and when she gives me tips like that, it makes me feel like I am living a good life already, because she is putting herself out there to let me know what is going to come of it and that I should always live a happy life.

My dad would always tell me, "When I was a kid, I went through a lot of crazy things, but what kept me going is that I did all the things that I wanted to do. Even though I have made mistakes, I am glad that I made them, because it is what makes me this person today."

And with all those things said, my family is what makes me a stronger person, and I believe that I can make my life a living legend.

Journal 30: Brainstorm

I believe:

-that there is a reason for everything that happens in the world.

-everyone makes mistakes; nobody is perfect in the world.

Personal Experience/Connection:

-Everyone does things for a reason. I would know because I have been through a lot of choices in my life and I make a choice for a reason, whether it would be a bad choice or a good choice. I make choices because there are my reasons.

-people make mistakes that they didn't mean to do; no body is perfect..but you learn from your mistakes to make yourself as close to perfect as possible. I have been through a lot of mistakes, but I have learned from them. And now, I don't do the same mistakes over and over, I change my ways.. I know that nobody is perfect because everyone has choices, just like me. And if we all make the wrong choice, it is a mistake that we are willing to take.

Allusive Poem Draft: Amphitrite

Gazing at the ocean
Looks back,
Turns around
And continues to run
Run from the love
That is chasing after

Finally,
Exhausted, Breathless
Sits down on the warm sand
Glances at the sea
Who could that be?

Someone is coming!
Worried, yet scared
Founded on the shore
Brought back
To the one in search

Happy, Thrilled
To be
In the arms of love.

Journal#20: Burning Streets

Fireworks

Fireworks are used to celebrate independence day, or for a celebration of a new year to come. But fireworks can also harm others, even if you didn't mean to. They are dangerous and because they make fire, they can also burn people, their houses, and their cars. Fireworks can also be good because they are very pretty ones and they are fun to light and enjoy.
Others may think that its just fireworks, and if it is legal, then it shouldn't be able to harm people that badly. Well, no. Because it is legal, it gives people the right to be able to light fireworks and enjoy the beauty of it and the fun that it brings. It still can be very harmful because of the dangers it brings like the fire can burn houses down, even plants. There are many cases of people getting hurt because of the fireworks, especially the ones that are illegal; even though they are illegal, people don't even care and they still pop it anyways. Fireworks bring dangers to people and they should be used safely. It is a very big issue on Oahu, and it can be fixed.
